This assignment was perfect for my recent trip home to my fathers new sustainable farm in White, PA. I created a little photo essay of the farm. When I think of what American means to me I think of the farmers and the rural upbringing I was fortunate enough to have and the hard work that goes into feeding and growing food for the people of this country.

Growing up in a white-bread, middle-class, Chicago suburb didn’t necessarily yield any kind of interesting shenanigans. So whatever kind of action I could get my hands on I was a part of. Mostly just skating… but early on it was all about trespassing on construction sites and/or abandon places. My friends and I would ride our bikes to find whatever kind of danger we could get into at these sacred places. The house pictured here would be a prime target.
