Manjari Sharma – Cross Processed

Monday, August 30th, 2010

The cross processed assignment for TIAPB lined up just perfectly with a real life assignment for me. I was hired to do the photography for Megan Palmer’s new album Old 33. Megan is extremely talented and yay, the production work on the album just wrapped up! The package design, layout and cover illustration was done by the very talented Bill Gaines. To get a closer look at the album, please click here!

What I was going after with this project was more like “cross processed married the polaroid” look and the color palette and light were planned accordingly. It is such a joy to hold the CD in my hand folks and to see that the final output got printed and produced right. Below you will see a couple of the portraits and also an overview of how the album looks. Again, please do visit this link to get a proper look at it if you have a moment.

Manjari Sharma in Group show Sultry II Art Hampton’s 52 Editions

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Recently my work was shown at the Art Hampton’s 2010 art fair. The following day a group show titled Sultry II opened in Brooklyn that included my work as well. Both events were quite well received. If you happen to swing through Brooklyn anytime until August 14 please stop in if you get the chance at Kris Graves Projects in Dumbo. Sultry II will still be up! I am attaching an invite and here is a recent entry on my blog with some pictures of the show and tell from the opening nights to both events.

Also one of my images that was selected by 52 Editions is now available as a limited editioned print for purchase. Please click here to view it! Here is the image for your viewing pleasure.

Manjari Sharma, Self-Portrait

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I am not one to usually take self portraits so I tried a hand at something that allowed me to somehow hide but still be a dominant part of the image. I was inspired by Alan Gastelum’s color sensibility for my palette choice.

We Welcome Justin Carrasquillo, Lauren Ward, Manjari Sharma, and Melissa Manning!

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

This Is A Photo Blog has recently added a few new contributors, and we’d like to introduce them to you:

A finalist in Nikon International’s 2009 “Emerging Talent” contest, Justin Carrasquillo is based in L.A. and loves shooting cars, landscapes, urban life, and the occasional pet.

Lauren Ward splits her time between Los Angeles and New York, but you can be sure to catch her online on the Urban Outfitters blog or roadtripping with musician friend Robert Francis.

Originally from India, New York’s Manjari Sharma has been receiving attention for her intimate series of images, The Shower Series, a photo from which was one of PDN’s “Photo of the Day” features in 2009.

If you’re out and about in L.A., you’ve probably run into Melissa Manning who’s been featured on VH1 and whose society photos have been published monthly in Flaunt Magazine.

Please join us in welcoming Justin, Lauren, Manjari, and Melissa to This Is A Photo Blog and keep an eye out for their contributions in the coming months!
