I’ve always wanted to do a Alice in Wonderland interpretation. I was so excited to be commissioned to do this one. ” Mad Hatter ” January 2011. I shot this with INTERVIEW Magazine and V Magazine in mind. V would have a harder time with the copy .. I realize I didn’t leave enough room around the model for the masthead.

All in all I think it fits the vibe of the magazines I chose. V Magazine and Interview… should of left a bit more space around the girl with gold dress image …
and know I’ll grace the cover one day soon!

Totally stoked great tear sheet month Thanks OCTOBER!

Shot at Rehab in Las Vegas, sunburn really sums up summer for me! Especially those who party all day and forget to re-apply.

This is an out-take from a shoot that I recently shot for fashion editorial in Malibu, the overcast day made for perfect light. I use a lot of filters when I shoot for different lighting / effects ect.everything on / in camera when I shoot.. The images in camera had a cross processed look….. I followed the steps online for creating a cross processed look in Photoshop for this shot, took me longer then I’d like to admit. I think I’ll stick to making it happen digitally on set in camera. But here it is! Enjoy!

Everyone use to call me jana banana so I did a self portrait of me holding a banana… inspired from the lifestyle of Alexa Miller and the color treatments of Andrea La Barge Mills personal works ..

Nicky, down to her last dollar! Literally as she prepares for her solo exhibit installation WEAR RECYCLE. Squeezing every penny out of every dollar, seems to be what we’re all doing these days.

I had some gold painted weights left over from a shoot so this is the image I made when I caught my assistant jammin out to some tunes and lifting!

My grandfather started a small fire extinguisher company out the back of a beat up pick up truck in a small rural town outside of Pittsburgh, PA in the mid 50′s.
This business has grown to 80+ employees and a handing down through the generations.
My parents have given me the freedom to choose a path that makes me happy, I’ve chosen not to stay within the family business.
My brother on the other hand, along with his wife have joined the family business with in the past 4 years and are rapidly approaching a point where my father will step down.
To be an outsider watching this transition unfold, I have no choice then to document it.
The slowing down of one chapter of my father’s life and the speeding up of my brothers. This is the cycle of life. I can’t imagine how my father feels. I know he has trained my brother well.
I feel that this image really encapsulates that transition I’m witnessing between them.

I realized when we gave this assignment… it took me a while to really solidify what my other passion was. When asked what is your passion, my auto answer is photography. So being that
THISISAPHOTOBLOG and you’ve assigned us the task of identifying and creating an image of our OTHER PASSION ( assuming other then photography) I have to say I was stuck.

I thought of many things, my finance, my dog Walter, cooking, gardening ect.

Then we took a much needed mini vacation to Zion Utah (one of my most favorite places on earth) a few weekends ago & I got back on the rock for the first time since October and realized my other passion truly and with out a doubt is CLIMBING.

I’ve attached two pics of me climbing a 460+ ft route called “Lead by Sheep” in Zion Utah.
