can't wait to shoot this one.. I have a great plan for it.
tam.. those are badass... great work..
these are really great Tamar! Where did you find that location? I wanna shoot there! I love Mad Men too, so inspiring.
tamar:
mad men is a great show. great inspiration, and these look awesome!
i love that show! these are really great!!!
Nice work Blake! really great mood about them. Is that natural lighting?
I agree with Jennie, Blake. The lighting is great. I can't tell if it's natural or not? Either way they look beautiful and I really love the model.
Jennie and Tamar:
Thanks, ya they're all natural. A little flex fill, but no real lights. Sierra was not happy to share her morning sunlight, but she's over it now.
claire thats great! I love the use of palm trees instead of buildings. you really adapted to the situation.
Claire- yeah I am really impressed how you have been executing these assignments. I feel like most of them have been geared toward shooting people but you have been really creative with them and have shot some awesome still lifes.
claire- such a great idea and super funny. i always get excited to see what you are going to post.
blake, in regards to the vertical, the color palette is matched perfectly between the environment, both the subject and her clothes, the light, everything.
tamar, tell us about the set design on the second one with the painting. the shadow from him going over the dog worked out great.
claire, is that crossed? can't beat the composition. i wish i was him right now all happy with his sucker in the sun! what's in his right hand though?
Thanks Ryan. I wanted to make that shot look sort of like an old ad for hard alcohol from the 60's, with the lighting and color palette from Mad Men. I wanted to make it look like a really masculine game/trophy room. The more I watch the show the more obsessed I am with the art direction. It is really amazing.
Colin those are really great. They really do seem like they were shot in the 70's. Great great styling as well.
colin- the feeling of those images are so 70's. great locations too! good job.
tamar- i'm so obsessed with that show too. you totally nailed the whole feeling and lighting of the show. especially with the direction of the models. um is weird i think don draper is totally hot?
just sitting down to read all of the comments!
Colin totally nailed the styling, color, and lighting of the 70's.
Tamar you also have great styling and I am such a sucker for 50's inspired shots. Your images really make me want to watch Mad Men.
Blake, I love your lighting
Ryan,
Thanks for the comment, I need to get more involved with commenting.
I have been playing around with cross processing in photoshop after re-watching Amelie, the whole film feels crossed to me.
One of these days, Im going to get mine up. Ryan - love the detail of the tv in the background. Colin - really love those shots - really captures the feeling. Jenn - I wanna be on the fire escape - I love the light and I really like the image of her playing with her head being separated by the window sill. Claire - love your still life's. Blake - the verticle one is gorgeous. Tamar - over the top great job. Really caught that feel of the show.
Okay, so I took forever to get mine up.
apologies.
I have been blown away by everyone's entries.
It's nice to see how many interpretations of one theme there really are. I feel like everyone's voice is coming across really nicely.
I'd have to agree with everyone's comments so far - I honestly didn't realize that Colin's were his shots - I thought they were doubles of film stills - you totally rocked it.
These are all incredible! Keep up the good work everyone!
Jenn- I agree with Chris. I like how you played with the window frame. It is really unconventional. Ryan, I love your lighting. It is really beautiful. Carolyn, you got the feeling of Virgin Suicides but made it very you in terms of the subject and composition. Great job to everyone!
Carolyn- Love the light and color you added to it! You must of had a really good assistant. haha
Thanks everybody for your comments and I am definitely impressed with everybody's work. Hopefully I will make it tonight so I can meet some of you and give comments in person.
